Mambazha Pulissery


  • 3 Mango ( not too ripe and not too raw)
  • 1 + 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 2 cups Water enough to cook the mangoes in a pot
  • 1/2 cup Coconut desiccated
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds roasted
  • 2 cups Yogurt
  • 2 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 4 Dry red Chillies
  • 7 Curry Leaves
  • 1 + 1/2 tsp Salt or according to taste


  1. In a large pot add the washed raw mangoes with the skin 

  2. Then add the water to cover the mangoes, 1 tsp turmeric, chilli powder and cover and boil 

  3. Cook the mangoes till they are tender to touch but not completely mashed 

  4. Set aside to cool 

  5. In the bowl of your blender add the coconut, cumin seeds and 1 tbsp of water. Grind to form a nice coarse paste. 

  6. With a fork, beat the yogurt

  7. Once the mango has cooled but is still warm to touch, add the heated yogurt and coconut paste . Cook on low for 4 - 5 mins 

  8. Finally heat the coconut oil, then add the mustard seeds and when they crackle add rest of the ingredients ( except salt) 

  9. Pour the coconut oil and curry leaves, mustards seed mixture over the mango coconut yogurt curry

  10. Check and add salt accordingly
